#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways
Our #GivingTuesday Goal: Raise $3000 for H.E.L.P. (Heroin Epidemic Learning Program) a youth program designed to educate and empower students on the current heroin and opiate epidemic; students learn from volunteer experts from the areas of law, medical, addiction, recovery, film, and story board writing that will help them create PSA’s (public service announcements) about heroin and opiate prevention.

Last winter (the pilot year) H.E.L.P. recruited nearly 40 students from Addison County and 15 volunteer experts that supported the education and training the students received to create a total of 10 PSA’s. In the 2nd year of H.E.L.P. we will partner up again Addison County schools, youth, teaching staff, Vt. State Police, local PD, paramedics, treatment professionals, professional film makers, professional story board writers, TV specialists, and other community partners to raise $3000 which will go towards directly enhancing our efforts of heroin and opiate prevention.
“Jesse Brooks of the United Way and Jeremy Holm (TV & Film Actor) have created a program that could be the model to getting more prevention programs into our schools and community. The H.E.L.P. program has given the State Police the opportunity to team up with other prevention professionals to become a greater part of the solution in combating the heroin and opioid problem" - Sergeant Matthew Daley of the Vermont State Police
